HV – a creative centre for textile handwork and textile art.

HV Galleri

Friends Of Handicraft / Handarbetets Vänner is one of the oldest and most distinguished handicraft and textile institutions in Sweden. Since its founding in 1874, the association has taken the lead in a number of important developments such as female entrepreneurship and emancipation, innovatory textile design and advance technical handicraft. The aims of FoH / HV are to be an active and outreaching center for education, development, production and experimentation of advanced textiles and design.
Masters and journeymen continue to work in the studio of FoH / HV Studio. This cooperation between Sweden’s leading artists and designers and FoH / HV Studio’s skilled craftsmen has led to continuous innovation and high quality work. References include the Modern Museum in Stockholm, Stockholm City Hall, the Swedish Parliament and the Headquarter of United Nations.
FoH / HV Studio also produces both new and renovated sacral textiles and artworks for churches under the brand-name ‘Licium’.
FoH / HV has run education in weaving since 1880. Today, Friends Of Handicraft / Handarbetets Vänner School offers a variety of courses in advanced textile handicraft and textile art. The training is given by experts and pedagogues within textile craft techniques, with emphasis on the individual artistic expression – as well as profound textile craft skills. The school is run with support from the Arts and Culture courses, a new post-secondary level of education in Sweden.
Friends Of Handicraft / Handarbetets Vänner Gallery is one of few galleries in Sweden showcasing textile art, design and craft. Inside FoH / HV Gallery, FoH / HV Boutique is located where yarn, textile craft, design and literature is available for purchase.
